Project Finance Associate

*Based in SF, but open to remote on the West Coast.*
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Finance Analyst / Associate to support financial analysis, modeling, and project structuring efforts. Reporting to the Head of Project Finance & Capital Markets, this role will collaborate across teams to ensure successful project development and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Modeling
Build and maintain complex financial models, including project finance models, discounted cash flow (DCF) analyses, and valuation models
Perform sensitivity analyses and scenario modeling to evaluate risk and returns
Conduct financial due diligence, including review of contracts and project documentation
Project Financing
Support structuring and execution of financing transactions (tax equity, construction debt, mezzanine debt, and term debt)
Coordinate with lenders, investors, and financial partners
Prepare investment memos, presentations, and supporting analyses
Project Planning & Coordination
Assist with project scheduling and milestone tracking
Support resource allocation to optimize project execution
Identify risks and contribute to mitigation strategies
Financial Reporting & Tracking
Review cost estimates and development budgets
Monitor project expenditures and track performance against budgets
Prepare regular reports on financial and project performance
Collaboration & Communication
Work cross-functionally with engineering, legal, and development teams
Provide updates to internal stakeholders and external partners
Maintain organized and comprehensive project documentation
Market Research & Strategy
Analyze renewable energy market trends, policies, and regulatory developments
Identify risks and opportunities impacting project economics
Support strategic decision-making with data-driven insights
Compliance & Reporting
Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and performance reports
Ensure compliance with financing agreements and reporting requirements
Support internal and external audits
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related field
Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus
Experience
2–5 years of experience in project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, or related fields
Experience in renewable energy or infrastructure projects is strongly preferred
Technical Skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling
Strong understanding of project finance structures (debt, equity, tax equity)
Familiarity with renewable energy financing (e.g., PPAs, tax credits)
