​Job Title:Senior Project Development Manager/ Project Developer

Location:Remote (Eastern United States + Canada, central and eastern time zones preferred)

The Client:

TGRC is partnering with a renowned Global Business Conglomerate in their efforts to build out the Project Development team of their Renewable Energy Arm, which specializes in Solar + Storage. After over half of a century ofsuccess in shipping, floating gas infrastructure and deep-water oil & gas production, this company is setting its sights on Green Energy.

The Solar Development shop may be a relatively new arm of the firm, but it has leadership from an experienced team that built some of the first solar and storage projects in the world. Since being founded two years ago, they have developed and sold 1.25GW of renewable assets. The current pipeline is is over 3GW, this shop has proven to be an extremally efficient and successful solar and storage developer.

These positions will include identifying new prospects (greenfield sites and acquisition targets) and advancing them through the development process – leading site identification and control, interconnection and transmission work, project permitting, offtake support and community engagement.

The market focus of these positions is on the Eastern United States (NYSIO, MISO, PJM, Southeast) and Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project development and project management activities from project conception to start of construction, working to proactively identify project barriers and implement strategies to overcome such barriers, including preparation of annual development budgets for projects located in the NE and Midwest US.

  • Support project interconnection applications with the utilities to secure queue positions. •

  • Renewable energy site identification and assessment.

  • Work with internal and external land specialist(s) to pursue site control. Meet and negotiate with potential project landowners to acquire site control and to provide project information and support when needed.

  • Support technology selection, procurement initiatives, and project dependencies to ensure targeted development and construction outcomes are achieved (i.e., projects delivered safely, on-time, and on budget).

  • Assist in RFP responses.

  • Support and lead public consultation and stakeholder engagement efforts with local communities, landowners, and leaders. The Junior Developer will be an important liaison for BW Solar’s interaction with landowners and community members.

  • Support agency consultation efforts with local, state, and federal regulatory bodies and decision makers.

  • Coordinate project specific tasks including, permitting and approvals, project communications, engineering and design, procurement, and construction review processes as well as providing an effective transitional basis into construction.

  • Support continuous improvement of BW Solar’s key development principles as well as identifying new opportunities to improve project execution and operational efficiencies.

  • Uphold all aspects of BW Solar’s Health, Safety & Environmental policies, practices, and programs and work to ensure that all contracts and agreements are implemented and administered with the same care and requirements such that occupational accidents, injuries, and other hazards related to BW Solar’s activities are minimized and/or avoided.

  • Assist in acquisition site diligence in conjunction with internal teams and consultants including critical issue screening, environmental studies, title review, property tax matters, community relations etc.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-5 years of project development and/or project management experience in power generation or similar industry.

  • Land acquisition experience preferred.

  • Experience dealing with Federal, State, and local regulators, agencies, and regulatory processes.

  • Experience with utility interconnection processes. PJM and MISO preferred.

  • Successful experience with all aspects of project development, permitting, and consultation.

  • Knowledge of renewable technologies and energy storage.

  • Existing network of contacts and partners in the solar market, particularly in NE and Midwest US, preferred.
