THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are delighted to be exclusively representing a breakthrough clean energy IPP in their search for a Manager of Business Development.

This hire will support the Head of Corporate Strategy in thepursuit of new business development objectives, such as operational portfolio strategy,M&A opportunities, and strategic partnership / JV origination.

The ideal candidate will have a broad range of skills that enables them to thrive executing financial, technical, and policy-related deliverables. The position caters to one who seeks to make a difference in fighting against climate chance by delivering market-based clean energy solutions and designing creative strategies to maximize the adoption, usage and value of clean and renewable technologies.

The firm are a well-established Renewable Energy Power Producer, with an extensive development pipeline throughout the US. The operating portfolio includes battery storage, hydro, solar and hybrid projects, with the current dev pipeline at over 1000MW (mix of solar, battery and offshore wind).

The company were recently successful in the NY offshore lease auction so this is truly a rare opportunity to join a collaborative, lean team of industry experts who are truly at the forefront of the US energy transition. This individual will support the development and operation for one of the first offshore wind projects in the US.

Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Prepare and compile market analysis to support implementation of business development strategies that increase the value of the operational portfolio, development pipeline and strategic partnerships. Strategies could include new projects (generation, transmission, etc.), new products (e.g., commercial innovations) or new customers (e.g., MUSH, industrials);

  • Work collaboratively across the corporate and operational team to create long-term portfolio value, through the creation of new products and the improvement of market structures;

  • Support early-stage review of M&A activities to deliver, analyze, and transact on opportunities that are most accretive to the business;

  • Lead execution of the Environmental, Social and Governance program to ensure compliance with short and long-term goals;

  • Evaluate dynamics in state and federal legislation and regulation to inform corporate growth and business development initiatives;

  • Communicate effectively with company leadership, as well as the Board of Directors, on business development objectives.

Qualifications Sought

Our client is seeking candidates with 3 years or greater experience in the clean energy sector or in a position focused on business development or corporate strategy. Direct experience with a range of clean energy technologies is a plus.

Additional desired skills and experience include:

  • Deep knowledge of clean energy market structures, policies, rules and regulations, ideally with existing knowledge on the U.S. northeast;

  • Proven experience and delivered results in a business development or corporate strategy role;

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functional groups, as well as across a diverse set of external stakeholders and/or partners;

  • Ambition to think beyond current convention to build sustainable projects, partnerships, and products that will underpin a decarbonized future.
