Legal Specialist
Job description
We are partnering with a leading international organisation in the renewable energy sector to appoint an In-house Legal Associate to join their growing South African team, based in Cape Town.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy transition, supporting the development and delivery of large-scale wind and solar projects.
The Role
As a trusted legal partner to multidisciplinary teams, you will provide end-to-end legal support across the lifecycle of renewable energy projects - from development and investment through to construction and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including:
Project and construction contracts
Partnership and shareholder agreements
Land and asset transactions
Supporting project bids and tender submissions
Advising business teams on legal and regulatory requirements
Assisting with project structuring, joint ventures, and acquisitions
Managing external legal counsel
Supporting dispute resolution and risk mitigation strategies
Contributing to internal governance, compliance, and legal reporting
What We’re Looking For:
LLB or BCom Law
5–10 years’ relevant legal experience
Strong background in commercial contracts and project-based environments
Experience in infrastructure, energy, or industrial sectors (renewables highly advantageous)
Commercially minded with strong negotiation skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset
