Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Substation Engineer to join our team. The Lead Substation Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, engineering, and construction of substations and related facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise in substation design, project management skills, and the ability to lead a team of engineers and technicians effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage substation engineering projects from concept through construction completion.
Develop detailed substation layouts, specifications, and designs according to client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including electrical engineers, structural engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution.
Review and approve engineering deliverables, including drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
Perform technical evaluations of equipment and materials for substations.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry codes.
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure project objectives are met.
Conduct site visits and inspections during various stages of project development and construction.
Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred.
Minimum [5] years of experience in substation engineering and design.
Proven experience in leading substation projects, including greenfield and brownfield developments.
In-depth knowledge of substation equipment, layouts, and design standards
Proficiency in substation design software such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, ETAP, or similar.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in renewable energy projects or power distribution systems.
Familiarity with SCADA systems and communication protocols.
Leadership experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers.
