Interconnection Manager
Job description
We're looking for an experienced Interconnection Manager to lead the electrical interconnection strategy for a growing portfolio of distributed energy projects across the United States. This is a high-impact position where you'll work across development, engineering, and construction to drive projects from origination through to successful delivery.
You'll take ownership of utility relationships, manage the full interconnection lifecycle, coordinate engineering activities, and help shape the success of utility-scale and distributed solar, battery storage, and EV charging projects.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and identify the most effective points of interconnection based on capacity, cost, schedule, and project risk.
Lead the full interconnection application process, acting as the primary point of contact with utilities from initial submission through project energization.
Manage project queue positions, monitor study timelines, and proactively mitigate schedule risks.
Review and negotiate interconnection study results and agreements to achieve commercially viable outcomes.
Coordinate all activities required to satisfy interconnection milestones, including applications, engineering studies, agreements, and post-approval deliverables.
Oversee early-stage engineering activities and support the development of interconnection designs.
Collaborate with development, site acquisition, engineering, construction, and external consultants to ensure seamless project execution.
Build and maintain strong utility relationships while representing the business in stakeholder meetings and industry discussions.
Monitor evolving utility tariffs, regulations, and interconnection reforms across key markets.
Conduct technical due diligence on project acquisitions, identifying potential interconnection risks and opportunities.
Support additional project and business initiatives as required.
Requirements
3+ years of experience in renewable energy interconnection, transmission planning, or power systems engineering.
Strong understanding of utility interconnection processes, particularly at the distribution level.
Experience managing utility relationships and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with the confidence to communicate technical information to both technical and commercial teams.
Highly organized, detail oriented, and accountable for delivering results.
Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and third-party engineering consultants.
Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting solar PV, battery energy storage (BESS), and EV charging infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of interconnection processes within major U.S. markets, including CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, and MISO.
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
