The Role:

You will play a key role in controlling and reporting risk on our trading activities and continuously developing the function.

Work closely with the other Commercial Finance teams and your manager to ensure portfolio risks are clearly quantified and managed and the financial impacts on P&L are clear and well-understood by management across the business.

Support in developing a strong risk presence and work closely with Trading and the Compliance counterparts in promoting risk discussion and understanding across the business

Work with the other Commercial Finance teams to increase insight and develop scenarios around GM delivery

Provide timely risk insights and analysis around the trading portfolio

Develop a solid understanding of trading portfolios and keep abreast of developments in the energy markets

Support new deal and hedge strategy analysis and identify embedded risks using simulation based modelling and other methods

Delivering improvements to market risk models and methodologies

 

The Individual:

Although this role is within the Finance team, you are not expected to hold accounting qualifications. Proof of numeracy, critical thinking and analytical ability are the essentials for this role.

You'll have a good understanding of risk management of retail portfolios and risk methodologies. This includes knowledge of market risk theory and/or commodity market risk experience within an energy company with exposure to gas and power markets.

You're analytically minded with strong critical thinking and a logical approach to problems.

Experience of valuation and risk models for complex energy derivatives

Knowledge of SQL and Python is desirable

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact and communicate at all levels, explaining sophisticated concepts in an easily digestible form.
