Job description

​TGRC is working with a leading IPP who are looking for an Associate Development Engineer to join their team.

This role will be an exciting opportunity to work within the Engineering and Construction (E&C) team to assist with the development, management, and construction of renewable energy (wind and solar), energy storage systems, and hybrid power generation projects across the African continent.

The Associate Development Engineer will be responsible for supporting the E&C team with all project development activities which include resource data management, conceptual design, yield assessments, due diligence, technical development, cost assessments, tendering, contract preparation and construction monitoring. The role will also be required to manage third-party contractors and contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the E & C team in all development and construction activities.

  • Modelling renewable resources using third-party software (e.g., WindPro, WAsP, Homer, and PVSyst) to estimate and optimise production through plant design.

  • Management of meteorological stations and databases.

  • Identify and mitigate spatial risks using GIS software.

  • Review and perform indicative plant design using computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD/Sketchup.

  • Developing estimates of probable project EPC costs and Owner’s Project Management costs for project modelling purposes.

  • Developing performance models (in house or using 3rd Parties) to be used in the project proforma for the proposed facility.

  • Identification and recommendation for mitigation & management of all technical risks,

  • Participating in due diligence site visits to assess the suitability, feasibility and risks associated with potential plant sites.

  • Managing outside technical consultants and engineers contracted to provide services as resources to the project team.

  • Investigate environmentally, permitting, and social issues and ensure that they are considered and mitigated during project development.

  • Providing and validating technical inputs into the project model.

  • Manage tendering processes for contractors and advisors.

  • Assist with the preparation of contract documents.

Requirements:

  • Professional experience in the renewable industry as an Associate Development Engineer, developer, consultant, or site representative,

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering.

  • Educational background in renewables (particularly solar and wind),

  • Prior experience in design and yield analysis software is preferable.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Fluent in French desirable
