​Our client is a leading pan-European energy business operating across marine, transport, and gas markets, with a strong and growing focus on renewable fuels, including BioLNG and biomethane. Regulation plays a central role in enabling its decarbonisation strategy, and this position sits at the intersection of policy, markets, and commercial execution

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Advisor to navigate the evolving European renewable fuels regulatory landscape. This is a high-impact role where you will translate complex regulation into actionable insights that directly support commercial strategy, market positioning, and profitability.

You will work directly with the trading teams with cross-functionally reach across commercial, sourcing, and technical teams, helping shape renewable fuel strategies and developing compliance-driven market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse, and interpret European energy and fuel regulations and national implementations (including RED III, FQD, ETS, ETS II, FuelEU Mari

  • time)Assess regulatory implications for renewable fuel strategies, particularly in: Biomethane and BioLNG markets Compliance mechanisms, certification systems, and credit/value chains

  • Emissions trading exposure and commercial impact

  • Translate regulatory developments into clear, practical guidance for internal teams

  • Support development of sourcing strategies, customer propositions, and decarbonisation solutions

  • Advise on sustainability certification, compliance requirements, and documentation

  • Track national regulatory developments across key European markets

  • Prepare briefings, position papers, and internal decision-making materials

  • Engage with regulators, industry bodies, and external stakeholders

  • Support commercial teams in understanding regulatory drivers in pricing, contracts, and business cases

  • Act as a key internal expert on regulatory matters

Your Profile
  • 5+ years’ experience in regulatory affairs, policy, compliance, consulting, or strategy

  • Strong knowledge of European energy and fuel regulation (especially RED III and FQD)

  • Understanding of renewable fuels, biomethane, BioLNG, and certification frameworks

  • Ability to translate complex policy into clear business insights and actions

  • Strong analytical and commercial awareness

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment

  • Fluency in English required; additional European languages are advantageous

  • Degree in law, policy, economics, energy, sustainability, engineering, or related
