​Onshore Wind Troubleshooter / Lead Technician – South Korea

Onshore Wind | Turbine Troubleshooting | Contract

TGRC is seeking experienced Onshore Wind Troubleshooters / Lead Technicians to support upcoming onshore wind project activity in South Korea.

This is a contract opportunity suited to a senior wind technician with strong fault-finding, diagnostic and technical leadership experience. The successful candidate will support complex turbine troubleshooting, repeat fault resolution, corrective maintenance and technical support across operational or newly commissioned onshore wind assets.

The Role

As an Onshore Wind Troubleshooter / Lead Technician, you will act as a senior technical resource on site, supporting service teams with complex turbine faults, performance issues and corrective maintenance activities.

You will work closely with site supervisors, service technicians, commissioning teams, OEM engineering support and client representatives to identify root causes, reduce downtime and improve turbine availability.

Key Responsibilities

Troubleshooting & Fault Finding

Diagnose and resolve complex turbine faults across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and control systems.

Support troubleshooting of converters, generators, pitch systems, yaw systems, sensors, braking systems, SCADA alarms and auxiliary systems.

Investigate repeat faults, abnormal turbine behaviour and performance issues.

Use turbine data, fault logs, technical manuals and diagnostic tools to identify root causes.

Escalate unresolved technical issues to OEM engineering support where required.

Corrective Maintenance

Lead or support corrective maintenance works on operational onshore wind turbines.

Assist with component replacement, inspections, repairs and technical interventions.

Support major fault recovery activities to minimise turbine downtime.

Ensure corrective works are completed safely, accurately and in line with OEM procedures.

Verify repairs through testing, checks and return-to-service processes.

Technical Leadership

Provide guidance and support to service technicians and junior team members.

Act as a technical point of contact for site teams during complex repair or troubleshooting activities.

Support daily planning, technical briefings and work prioritisation.

Help identify training needs, recurring issues and opportunities to improve site performance.

Promote high standards of technical workmanship, reporting and safety discipline.

Reporting & Documentation

Complete detailed fault reports, service records and technical findings.

Document root cause analysis, corrective actions and recommendations.

Track repeat faults, downtime causes and unresolved technical issues.

Support availability improvement plans and technical performance reviews.

Ensure all work is documented clearly for site, client and OEM stakeholders.

Health, Safety & Quality

Follow all site HSE procedures, permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout requirements and risk assessments.

Ensure troubleshooting and corrective maintenance works are completed safely and by competent personnel.

Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings and technical risk reviews.

Support a safety-first culture across all service and troubleshooting activities.

Maintain high standards of quality, compliance and professionalism on site.

Requirements

Strong experience as a Wind Turbine Technician, Troubleshooter, Lead Technician or Service Technician.

Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex turbine faults.

Good knowledge of turbine electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, control and SCADA systems.

Experience supporting operational wind farms, commissioning projects or service campaigns.

Ability to interpret technical manuals, fault logs, electrical drawings and turbine data.

Strong practical problem-solving skills and confidence working independently.

Experience guiding or mentoring other technicians.

Comfortable working on a contract basis in South Korea.

Korean language skills would be advantageous; English language skills are highly desirable for OEM and international technical coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

GWO Basic Safety Training.

Electrical, mechanical, mechatronics or renewable energy qualification.

OEM turbine platform training would be highly desirable.

HV/LV authorisation, LOTO, electrical safety or advanced troubleshooting training would be advantageous.

Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid and Fire Awareness.

Previous experience with major component exchange, converter faults, pitch/yaw systems or SCADA alarm analysis.

Contract Details

Contract position supporting onshore wind project activity in South Korea.

Project duration, rotation and mobilisation date to be confirmed.

Competitive contract rate depending on experience, availability and project requirements.

Suitable for locally based candidates or international contractors with relevant South Korea project eligibility.
