​Onshore Wind Mechanical Technician – South Korea

Onshore Wind | Mechanical Maintenance & Installation | Contract

TGRC is seeking experienced Onshore Wind Mechanical Technicians to support upcoming onshore wind project activity in South Korea.

This is a contract opportunity suited to mechanical technicians with experience across wind turbines, rotating equipment, hydraulics, heavy industry, power generation, construction or major mechanical plant. The successful candidate will support mechanical installation, inspection, servicing, troubleshooting and repair activities across utility-scale onshore wind projects.

The Role

As an Onshore Wind Mechanical Technician, you will work as part of a site-based technical team supporting mechanical works across onshore wind turbines.

Depending on the project phase, this may include turbine installation support, mechanical completion, planned maintenance, corrective repairs, component replacement, inspections, bolt tensioning, torqueing, lubrication, hydraulic works and handover activities.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Works

Carry out mechanical installation, maintenance, inspection and repair activities on onshore wind turbines.

Support work on turbine mechanical systems, including gearboxes, drivetrains, main bearings, yaw systems, pitch systems, hydraulic systems, braking systems and auxiliary equipment.

Assist with component replacement, alignment checks, lubrication, torqueing and tensioning activities.

Support mechanical completion, commissioning preparation and service handover activities.

Read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals, work instructions and inspection checklists.

Turbine & Site Support

Support turbine installation, service, commissioning or operational teams as required.

Assist with tower, nacelle, hub and blade-related mechanical tasks.

Identify defects, wear, damage or abnormal operating conditions and escalate where required.

Work safely within turbine towers, nacelles, hubs and other restricted areas.

Ensure tools, lifting equipment and mechanical equipment are used safely and maintained correctly.

Documentation & Reporting

Complete inspection reports, maintenance records, service documentation and daily progress updates.

Record defects, non-conformances, punch list items and technical issues accurately.

Support completion documentation and handover packs where required.

Escalate repeat faults, quality concerns or safety risks to supervisors and engineering teams.

Health, Safety & Quality

Follow all site HSE requirements, permit-to-work systems, lifting procedures and risk assessments.

Ensure mechanical works are completed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.

Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and site discipline.

Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings and site coordination meetings.

Promote a strong safety-first culture across all mechanical activities.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Mechanical Technician in wind energy, renewable energy, power generation, heavy industry, construction, marine, oil & gas or similar technical environments.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, hydraulics, bolted connections and component replacement.

Experience working on wind turbines would be highly desirable.

Comfortable working at height and in challenging site environments.

Ability to use mechanical tools, torqueing equipment and inspection equipment safely and accurately.

Good fault-finding, problem-solving and practical technical skills.

Comfortable working on a contract basis in South Korea.

Korean language skills would be advantageous; English language skills would be useful for working with international OEM and project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Mechanical qualification, trade certificate or equivalent technical background.

GWO Basic Safety Training.

Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid and Fire Awareness.

Hydraulics, bolt tensioning, torqueing, lifting or slinging training would be advantageous.

Previous experience with major wind turbine OEM platforms would be highly desirable.

Experience supporting turbine installation, commissioning, service or major component exchange activities.

Contract position supporting onshore wind project activity in South Korea.

Project duration, rotation and mobilisation date to be confirmed.

Competitive contract rate depending on experience, availability and project requirements.

Suitable for locally based candidates or international contractors with relevant South Korea project eligibility.
