An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading renewable energy business in Germany, backed by one of the world’s largest private equity infrastructure funds, with hundreds of billions of assets under management.
With over 15 years of project development experience in the German market, the company is entering a significant new growth phase following a major recent investment. As part of this expansion, the electrical engineering division is growing to support the planning and delivery of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System projects across Germany. Projects are multi-hundred MW BESS.
The organisation is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the full electrical scope across utility-scale BESS developments, from early-stage design through to execution and commissioning.

Role: Lead Electrical Engineer
The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading all electrical engineering activities across large-scale BESS projects, ensuring technical excellence throughout the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the electrical engineering scope across utility-scale BESS projects
Manage system design, grid connection, and technical compliance activities
Coordinate internal engineering teams, external consultants, and EPC partners
Support project development, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases
Ensure compliance with German grid codes and industry standards
Review and approve technical documentation, specifications, and designs
Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams
Requirements
Strong experience in utility-scale renewable energy, power infrastructure, or BESS projects
Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Experience delivering projects through the full lifecycle
Strong understanding of grid connection and HV electrical systems
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across complex projects
Fluent English required; German language skills beneficial
Compensation & Location
Salary range: €85,000 – €140,000 depending on experience and expertise
Preferred location: Munich
