Job title: Director of Development

Location: United States (Remote)

The Green Recruitment Company is excited to be partnering with a growing developer of utility-scale battery storage projects across the US, to appoint a Director of Development, in California. Our client acquires and/or partners with owners of retiring brownfield industrial and power generation facilities, remediates and deconstructs them, and in parallel redevelops them into renewable power generation and/or energy storage systems to decarbonize these legacy assets. This role is fully remote, but candidates should ideally be located on the West Coast.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the redevelopment and finance teams in the screening, modeling, financial analysis and securing of power facilities.

  • Develop processes, procedures, programs, Project Management Plans (PMP) and Project Execution Plans (PEP).

  • Liaise with technical and commercial consultants, contractors and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).

  • Execution resource planning, schedules, budgets, studies, value planning and presentations.

  • Off-take/power sales; interconnection (IX), transmission and wheeling; project commercial structuring, modeling and finance; government affairs and community relations; property leasing, acquisition and Right of Way (ROW); Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) execution; permitting, commercial structuring and contract formulation and negotiations; business and risk management; environmental and sustainable development; and QA/QC and safety.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance and/or engineering; Master’s degree preferred.

  • At least 7 - 10 years of success in the development of renewable energy and energy storage projects.

  • Experience leading full project lifecycle completion of multiple power generation or transmission projects from site origination through NTP and eventual COD.

  • Demonstrated success and experience developing utility-scale energy storage and/or renewable energy projects, within CAISO.

  • Basic understanding of financial modeling, providing input and analysis of project economics.
