Investment Analyst – Solar

The Green Recruitment Company represent a market leading infrastructure fund who invest in renewable projects throughout the UK and beyond.

Recent developments have led to the growth of their Australian portfolio, which is why the team require additional support for acquisitions and greenfield projects primarily in the solar sector. This role will support the existing team and be an Analyst position. 


The role sits within the Infrastructure team which has primarily invested in the renewable energy sector to date, with a current geographic focus on the UK investments. The team has recently widened its remit to include energy distribution and utility network development projects.

The team develops, invests in and operates a range of energy projects and manages investment funds, maximising risk-adjusted returns to shareholders through a combination of:

  • Financially sound valuation of energy projects
  • Sourcing suitable investments
  • Agreeing commercially competitive investment terms
  • Undertaking rigorous technical, commercial and legal due diligence on potential investments
  • Maintaining industry knowledge and relationships
  • Active management of our operational portfolio

The role sits as a central component of the team with active involvement in the collective goal to effectively build track record in investment returns and building assets under management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supporting the Senior Associate in the management of the commercial development of a portfolio of solar assets in the Republic of Ireland and Australia, including;
  1. Monitoring progress against key milestones in a development strategy
  2. Managing the payment of invoices through effective communication with the finance team and third parties
  3. Maintaining and reporting on expenditure against budget
  4. Reviewing and monitoring development reports and highlighting key issues
  5. Contracts management – managing our obligations under a variety of construction and operational contracts and being the first point of contact
  • Supporting the Senior Associate with the maintenance of detailed financial models and running of multiple market scenarios
  • Developing financial models with the support of the Investment manager and eventually developing, optimising and undertaking sensitivity analysis on models independently
  • Supporting the Senior Associate and Investment Director with drafting investment papers, putting forward key risks, suggesting risk mitigations and making investment recommendations
  • Supporting the Senior Associate throughout the project finance process including managing external advisors (legal and technical) for the timely delivery of key documentation during the acquisition process (contracts and reports)
  • Supporting the Senior Associate and Investment Director throughout the sales transaction process by drafting information memorandums, maintaining a data room and managing external advisors
  • Developing relationships with developers and other personnel in the industry
  • Developing financial models with the support of the Investment manager and eventually developing, optimising and undertaking sensitivity analysis on models independently

  • Internal departments such as Finance, Legal, Tax, Marketing, Client Services and SaleS



  • Strong academics in a related subject – 2:1 or above
  • Numerate and highly competent with MS Excel
  • Personable and professional approach
  • Use of financial models for DCF/NPV valuation and some experience in financial model development
  • An interest in investment, finance and the clean energy sector
  • Excellent attention to detail with proactive approach to problem solving
  • Highly organised, logical, with good time management skills
  • Strong communication skills; both verbally and written
  • Flexibility to meet a range of tasks
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload – able to define priorities and ensure task completion
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to problem solving


  • Prior transactional experience
  • Prior asset management, project management or contracts management experience
  • Experience of the Renewable Energy, Energy, Water or Construction sector beneficial on either client, funder or advisory side
