Energy Manager – M&T

Energy Management

Summary:

Our client, a leading energy consultancy in the North West are currently recruiting within their Operations team for an Energy Manager. The successful candidate will be focused on ways to maximise revenue for the group. Our client are looking for a candidate who has previous energy management experience and an excellent knowledge of M & T systems.

 

 

Main Role responsibilities:

Monitoring and Targeting system management/maintenance

  • Manage on-going maintenance of our client’s Monitoring and Targeting system
  • Ensure targeting and reporting is setup in-line with client expectations
  • Manage any anomalies and report potential projects with our client and their customers

 

Project Management

  • Understand all contractual deliverables & associated SLA’s
  • Ensure these are delivered appropriately by the relevant teams
  • Manage client expectations
  • Proactively resolve any issues
  • Awareness of activity across the account

 

Client Awareness

  • Understand client objectives and match service delivery appropriately
  • Obtain, record and manage client feedback
  • Lead strategic communication with the client; hold the main relationship
  • Stakeholder identification & management
  • Understand details of overall allocated client portfolio

 

System Management

  • Be self-sufficient in understanding the system & extracting information
  • Complete all required documentation including new client set-up & lost business forms
  • Record all activity on the system & ensure client contacts are up to date

 

Other tasks may include:

  • To write an energy-management policy
  • Devise a strategy for reducing energy costs and environmental impact
  • Coordinate an energy committee and energy champions
  • Develop a programme of energy-saving projects
  • Maintain a register of energy-saving opportunities
  • Measure and verify the savings achieved
  • Work with our client’s procurement team to watch on prices and other developments in energy markets
  • Monitor and advise on legislation, regulations, and carbon trading schemes
  • Monitor and advise on opportunities to take advantage of tax breaks and relevant subsidies with respect to energy saving technologies and regulatory regimes
  • Keep abreast of potential energy and water saving products
  • Working with wider teams, maintain records of energy suppliers, transportation and metering companies, and regulatory bodies
  • Recommend changes in patterns of consumption to minimise transportation charges
  • Commission and supervise specialist consultants
  • Conduct or arrange energy audits and surveys, performance tests and investigations
  • Ensure timely collection of in-house meter readings
  • Implement sub-metering and data logging where required
  • Collect occupancy and production figures, and other measurable variable factors which affect energy consumption
  • Establish relationships between consumption and relevant driving factors
  • Analyse energy consumption histories on a weekly basis to detect exceptions
  • Diagnose, investigate and rectify detected exceptions
  • Collate comparative data and figures for benchmarking purposes
  • Participate in energy benchmarking groups
  • Conduct or arrange staff awareness and motivation programmes
  • Devise, commission and deliver or supervise energy training programmes
  • Report on energy consumption and costs, associated transmission and distribution costs, budget variances, costs of exceptions, and savings achieved
  • Assist with the preparation of energy budgets
  • Assist in the development of energy-conscious design, maintenance, and operation policies

 

 Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

Essential

  • Batchelor Degree in Science/Maths/Engineering required
  • Previous Energy Management position held
  • Proven track record of implementing energy saving projects across a range of sectors
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Significant energy management knowledge and sound understanding of M&T systems
  • Commitment to customer focus Desirable
  • Higher degree in energy management or sustainability

 

Desirable:

  • At least 8 years in Energy Management
  • Member of professional accreditation, such as CIBSE, IEMA, EMA or IME
  • Strong commercial acumen; results driven
  • Self-motivated with the initiative to learn, pro-active attitude
  • Demonstrable influencing ability, with a competency for selling
  • Strong presentation & interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning, prioritisation & organisational skills
